Introduction:
TinStar is one of the few games that take advantage of the SNES Mouse and the Super Scope but can still be played with the regular controller (I reccomend the mouse). Nintendo created this game probably trying to boost the SNES mouse and super scope's popularity. The game takes place in the old west, the new Sheriff (TinStar) must rid the town of all the trouble-makers. TinStar and all the characters are robots, even the horses. So it's like a futurisitic cowboy game.
Graphics [9/10]:
The Graphics are pretty simple, it basically looks like a cartoon (which is not bad). There is nothing outstanding but everything is pretty much the way it should be. The backgrounds are very good, especially the night-time and desert scenes. When you start the game up you'll see TinStar riding his horse Allunnium on a Sunset, when I first got this game I thought it was very flashy.
Music and Sound [9/10]:
The noise of TinStar's gunshot may get pretty annoying but the other sound effects are pretty good. The background music is great, it's done in a western style. There are nine types of Background music in the game. Each one fits well in the level it's on.
Game Play [10/10]:
The gameplay is very fun if you are using the mouse. It's simple, just point-and-shoot. There are four types of levels. The Knock-em down practice courses are to help you practice your shooting, they start off each day. The next kind of level is what I like to call "TinStar View" level. In these levels you see TinStar, you don't control him, just use the pointer to shoot people around him. The third type of levels are when you move from side-to-side shooting guys, in these type of levels it's a first person view so you don't see TinStar. The fourth kind of levels are when you have to draw. In these levels, you must be swift with the mouse (or the controller or Super Scope). I haven't tested this game with the Super Scope since I never owned it since it didn't last too long. I had the mouse because I already had a Mario Paint. The Game Play is very unique and is very fun!
Challenge/Replay [5/10]:
The game fails in this categorey because it is very easy. The game moves pretty fast if you keep doing good, the cutscenes are noting but talking and progressing the story but it doesn't slow down the game because it very easy. I suggest starting off on the easy difficulty (through the options menu) then playing the game through each difficulty. The replay seems to be ok because I've played it a few times since I bought it a couple years ago.
Conclusion/Overall [7/10]:
The game is very fun but you may wizz through it. If you want you can raise the difficulty in the options menu but this game probably won't last as long as Super Mario World or a sports game. I suggest buying it if you don't mind easy difficulty or if you a beginner gamer. It would also be a nice gift for kids who have the SNES.
