| Introduction:
First of all, everyone out there, who's looking for another type of
'Golden Eye' game..forget this game. It's nothing like the new title
by Rare. In fact it wasn't even made by Rare. James Bond Jr. is a 2-D
Side-Scrolling, action game. There are two types of levels, James Bond
Jr. levels, where you play as the character of the same name, and
vehicles, where you play as a variety of different transportation. The
basic plot is this..S.C.U.M. (The evil organization) is plotting to
take over the world. You (James Bond Jr.) Must stop them before they
can. It's not a great plot, but better than other games out there.
You put the new codes up in the reviews section but not in the
codes section. People who come to the site looking for only codes
will, most likly not look for them in the reviews section...
especially since we have a CODES section :-)
Graphics [7/10]:
The graphics aren't one of this games strong points. They are cleverly
done, however. The backrounds characters and enemies are drawn to
match the long gone cartoon show. The Power-Up graphics aren't too
great but the explosions and movements of the characters are fairly
well done. The Vehicle levels are done in the same manner. There is a
little slow-down on the Vehicle levels, but it's not too bad. The
James Bond Jr. levels have no noticable slow-down.
Music and Sound [7/10]:
The Music resembles the Cartoon shows theme, and there are also a
couple original themes in here. The music isn't great, but it does
it's purpose. The music is definatly inferior to any of the newer
Super Nintendo games, but it's catchy and it's NOT annoying!
The sound effects crew did a great job on this game. You can hear the
James Bond Jr. Helicopter Whirl, the Speed boats engine, and cool bomb
explosions. Theses were exellent sound effects when they came out, but
they're getting a little dated. They're still good, but they are a bit
"worn".
Game Play [8/10]:
This has some great Side-Scrolling action. There are numberous
Power-Ups and weapons James Bond Jr. can use. There's grenades,
blow-darts, an so much more. There's even anti-gravity shoes, and a
laser watch! Too many things to list here, this game is packed with
equipment and items. The control is easy to use and smooth. There is
bearly any frustration with the control in this game, it's pretty
straight forward.
The levels are also very imaginative. They have traps enemies, and
even the occational secret room!
The vehicle levels are awsome too! Especially the Boat level....The
vehicles all give you a great sense of speed.
Challenge and Replay [8/10]:
There is only one very hard level, thats the second level in the game.
You fly in a helicopter and try to shoot dow the enemies. If you can
get through this level, you won't have TOO much trouble with the rest
of the game..but don't be fooled. The 'Copter' level is really hard!
The rest of the game can have it's hard points.
I've had this game since '92, and sadly, I traded it :-(
That was a bad descision. I did get six years of joy out of it though!
This was a game that, whenever I got bored and had nothing to do, I
ran to this game. Almost all the levels are replayable, and fun. This
as a good fun game if you want some good Replay Value!
Conclussion/Overall [7.5/10]:
If you liked the Cartoon, you'll love this game. Even people who never
saw it will like this side-scroller. There is so much stuff going on
in this game, it's hard not to like it. The sound, music, and graphics
are ok. But the Game Play and Replay is what really counts! And this
game reall delivers. It's too bad the cartoon never really made
it...if it did we would be seeing a sequal to this great game!
