Introduction:

One of the last games to be released for te Super Nintendo, Frogger
has captured the hearts of millions of gamers. Now the original
version is back! With updated graphics and sounds, will it be as
entertaining as the original?
Frogger is a 1 or 2-player Action/Strategy (Hop to a bay and try not
to get squished).
It's rated 'E' for everyone. The frog can get squished, (Comically)
that's the extent of the violence.
Graphics [5/10]:
The graphics are a major overhaul of the original. But remember the
graphics from the original game? The li'll frog is graphically
rendered, but it's so small it really doesn't matter at all. The
snakes, crocs, alligators, trucks, cars and just about everything else
has been greatly improved upon. The cars have a more clear and crisp
look. Their colorful animations add to a cartoonish look. And the
moving waters that Frogger must cross are rather nice.
In the end however, the graphics don't live up to the Super Nintendo's
full potential. The graphics never skip or slowdown, but there was so
much more that could have been done to improve the game's graphics.
Average graphics.
Music and Sound [3/10]:
There's no music what so ever in the game. No music in the beginning,
when you progress or even when you die.
The sound effects, unlike the music, are pretty good. The cute little
bouncing sound, and the screeching of the cars (Just as they spatter
Frogger all over the road.) are all nicely done. It's too bad that
there was no sound. Even though the Sound effects aren't the greatest,
they do add more to this game than the original.
Game Play [9/10]:
This is the original Frogger. The game is the same, the objective is
the same, but for those of you who don't know:
You're a small frog. All you need to do is jump into a one of five
bays. After one frog is safely in a bay another appears. Once all five
bays are filled you advance to the next level. Sound easy? Well I
forgot to mention the the five lanes of busy traffic, the poisonous
snakes, the rushing river that'll sweep you away if you even touch it
and the bay gators trying to eat your frog while he jumps to safety.
The game may seem simple, but it takes time practice and skill to get
on the high score board.
Challenge and Replay [9/10]:
After the first level of the game is completed, just getting across
the road is difficult, not to mention navigating your way across the
river, using the backs of turtles and drift logs. The game is
incredibly difficult, and the game gets progressively harder, than
loops just like the original. It takes mastering of the game to even
reach the sixth level.
Frogger is a good game to always come back to. It increases your
reaction time and is always good for a few hours of fun. (When you
can't decide what SNES game to play.) It's really hard to get bored
of, let alone put down, frogger once your into the game.
Conclusion/Overall [6.5/10]:
The graphics from Frogger are nothing to awe at, neither is the sound.
There is no music what-so ever, no matter what your definition is. The
game plays just as the classic did. It's just as fun and addictive as
it was when it came out. There's no real major update of the game
here, but the graphics are cleaner and more crisp compared to the
original.
If you didn't like the first, you won't like this. But It's Frogger!
Who doesn't like it? If you want the game in a more graphical version
than the classic original or if you never experienced Frogger, I
suggest this game.
Frogger is one of the last "new" (Relatively speaking) games to be
released on the Super Nintendo, fortunately it's pretty good.
