Introduction:
Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, the three fun loving characters of Animaniacs,
star in this zany, side-scrolling, platform game. Here's the story.
The Warners are asked to retreive a movie script, with academy award
potential. This task was given to them to 'keep them busy' and out of
the hair of the CEO. But the three Warners travel to various Movie
sets and stages, to search for their goal.
Graphics [8/10]:
Graphics on this game are done very well. The characters and ememies
are well drawn, animation-type graphics. The Backrounds also contain
many familiar characters and sets from the show. The backround is very
"cartoony" and graphically intensive, for a game of this type. Even
with this huge amount of graphics, though, there is no, noticable
slow-down when there are too many things on the screen at once.
Music and Sound [6/10]:
There is SO much potential for the music track in this game. Sadly,
though, the designers did very little with the music part of the game.
The "Animaniacs" theme song, keeps repeating in the backround. Any
other music in the game is also repititious and unmemorable.
The sound falls into the same catagory..there are the >boinks<, and
>bonks< that at first sound silly and fun, but, like the music,
begins to get old..FAST!
Game Play [6/10]:
For the most part, this game is just, jump, avoid the traps and out
run or beat the enemies. This wouldn't be that bad except the level
design is poor. You run and dash into enemies, and some times can
throw things. There is little imagination put into the actual FUN of
the game...That being said...There are four sections you must go
through to find the "Ultimate Script". You can press the select button
and switch between Yakko, Wakko or Dot at any point in the game. Other
than that..there isn't much more to the game.
Challenge and Replay [7/10]:
This game is a bit on the difficult side. You have to time and land
jumps precisely, and out running Ralph, the security guard, is a chore
unto itself. This isn't the kids-type game that you may think it is.
It's far to difficult for younger kids, and even some older kids!
There isn't much to go back to in this game. Yeah, you will want to
try it again after you've beaten it...and Yeah, you will have an urge
to play it about once every year..but that's it, there's nothing more.
Conclusion/Overall [6.7/10]:
Animaniacs is a good game to rent. You could like it, but you probably
won't. The graphics are great on this game, but the sound, and actual
game play is terrible. The designers didn't put all of their effort
into this game, and that's disappointing. The game is too hard for the
young crowd it was geared towards, and everything in the game, gets
very repeatative.
