Description:
Think Pokémon is just a fad? Wrong! Nintendo again proves its incredible franchise power with Pokémon Gold and Silver (commonly referred to as Pokémon GS). Industry experts predict these two games could be the best selling video games of all time.
After experiencing these new Pokémon adventures, I agree. Pokémon GS hooked me right away. It ranks as one of the most enjoyable, deep and addictive games on the Game Boy Color - or anywhere else. And it's not a spiffed up version of previous Pokémon games. Pokémon GS qualifies as a true sequel, with a plethora of new Pokémon and exciting gameplay features to boot.
Game Features:
- Catch up to 251 Pokémon, including 100 all-new breeds
- Play using the innovative in-game clock. Different times of day or different days of the week create a different experience
- Breed Pokémon (yes, they now have genders) for all-new friends such as Pikachu's pre-evolved form, Pichu
- Organize your items, call trainers and in-game friends via cell phone, and much more using the very cool Pokégear interface
Things to keep in mind:
If you're a parent, you're probably wondering about the whole Gold/Silver deal. Let me explain. Both games include the exact same quest, features and goodies, but different Pokémon. If you buy Pokémon Gold and you want to "catch 'em all," you'll need to trade with a Silver owner, and vice-versa.
A warning about some compatibility issues. You can't trade or battle any of the 100 new Pokémon with owners of Pokémon Red, Blue, or Yellow. Also, Pokémon GS isn't compatible with the N64 game, Pokémon Stadium.
Who would enjoy this game:
If you're not a Pokémon fan, this game will convert you. If you've been a Pokéenthusiast all along, then welcome to heaven. Either way, expect Pokémon GS to rock your world.
Bottom Line: Clear your calendar. Say good-bye to your social life. Pokémon Gold and Silver will consume you.
