Description:
Many gamers remember Donkey Kong Country (DKC) as one of the most treasured games of the last decade. It was tons of fun, and it pushed the Super Nintendo to its absolute limit. DKC remains one of the best platform games ever.
If you don't believe the technically inferior Game Boy Color (GBC) can do this masterpiece justice, you're wrong. Rare, the phenomenal developer of the original DKC, did the unthinkable. It re-programmed DKC for the Game Boy Color, losing little from the original. What an amazing feat!
Game Features:
- Play as Nintendo's trademark apes, Donkey and Diddy Kong, in a near-flawless port of the classic DKC
- Collect bananas, ride mine carts and fight bosses in DKC's many, many levels
- Discover hundreds of secret areas and hidden goodies
- Shoot Kremlings and go fishing in the extra mini-games
Things to keep in mind:
If you played DKC in the good ol' Super Nintendo days, you know it's a hard game. This hasn't changed. While experienced gamers like the challenge, younger players with low patience levels might get frustrated.
In the move down to the GBC, Rare cut a little off the total viewing space. You might find this annoying when you take 'leaps of faith' to catch a rope or jump to a far-off ledge.
Who would enjoy this game?
Despite the difficulty, gamers of all ages and types will love this one.
Bottom Line: A gaming masterpiece, now in portable form. This amazing game ranks among the absolute best on the GBC.
